  • Mexican Turquoise is often associated with protection and tranquility. It is believed to enhance communication, promote emotional balance, and foster spiritual growth, connecting the physical and spiritual realms.

History of Mexican Turquoise:

  • Turquoise was highly valued in Mesoamerica, with the Toltecs (10th-12th centuries) being the first major culture to use it extensively.
  • Other cultures like the Maya, Tarascans, and Aztecs also prized turquoise.
  • The Aztecs believed their god Quetzalcoatl taught them the art of cutting and polishing turquoise. They valued turquoise (chalchihuitl) more than gold and emeralds. Turquoise was used in the mosaic inlay art, and the Aztecs and other Meso-American cultures created mosaics of turquoise, garnet, and shell.
